The “Punch Pass” by EST

The “punch pass” by EST The game now is way faster than it was when we grew up watching greats like Maradona, Pele, Cruyff and Matthaus. The introduction of sports science, nutrition, stats, apps, brain training and constantly evolving technology have all had a profound impact on the way the game is played and the speed in which the ball moves around the field. There is still a place for the old school ‘follow through’ passing technique when players want to slow the play down. However if you want to be able to move the ball quickly without letting the opponent know where you are going then the punch pass is one of the most powerful tools you can add to your soccer toolbox.

HOW TO EXECUTE A PUNCH PASS

  1. THE PLANT FOOT Plant your foot in a vertical line slightly away from the ball and slightly behind. Knee slightly Bent. Secret weapon (activate glut)

  2. ARM OUT FOR BALANCE The Plant foot should be linked with an outstretched arm to aid balance

  3. HIP OPEN Make sure the hip is completely open and horizontal

  4. TOE POINTED SLIGHTLY UP almost horizontal but a slight lift up

  5. PUNCH THE MIDDLE OF THE BALL
